My Favorite Childhood Book:

"Owl Babies" by Martin Waddell

"Owl Babies" is about a family of baby owls. Their mother leaves their nest to go find food. While she is gone, the baby owls worry that their mother is not going to come back. This was one of my favorite stories from when I was little.

I like to share this book with my students whenever I get the chance.  Even though this story is about a mother and her babies, I believe it portrays the message that someone will always be there for you whether it is your Mom, Dad, teacher, etc.  I believe this is an important message for young children to understand.

  3. This book is currently one of my toddlers favorite book in the classroom. She has requested to read it every day, about a dozen times a day, for the past two weeks. She gets excited at the end when the mother owl returns and the baby owls "bounce up and down and dance". It is a great book to teach children their grown up will always comes back at the end of the day if drop offs are difficult too.
