Relationship Reflection

The relationships that I have included are: relationships with my family, boyfriend, friends, and my dog. These relationships are important to me because they provide me with support, guidance and trust. My family (Mom, Dad, and sister) and boyfriend provide the support I need in order to be successful. I know I can rely on them and go to them for anything. My family is very important to me, without my family I would not be where I am today.

I included a picture of friends from college. These relationships were formed because we were all in the same classes, experiencing the same feelings, stress, and activities. This relationship is important to me because friends allow you to relax and have fun. Friends also help provide support and give advice. I am thankful for the group of friends that I have formed.

I also included a picture of my dog. My dog is very special to me. If I am feeling stressed, I know spending time with my dog will help me feel better. Seeing the excitement of my dog when I get home from work cant help but make me feel happy.

In order to keep these relationships positive relationships, it is important to make time for each relationship and to communicate effectively with each relationship. This can also be a challenge because sometime there is just not enough time to do everything you want. It can be challenging to keep track of all relationships, and to give each relationship the same amount of attention. I have also learned that in these relationships it is important to help each other. This idea of helping each other needs to be a give and take relationship.

The relationships I chose to focus on are personal relationships. These relationships could impact my ability to be an effective early childhood professional because if something happened to one of these relationships that I have formed, then I could become distracted. In addition to this, it could be challenging to prioritize relationships and work; sometimes it is easier to pass on the work and do something with friends or family.

  1. Brianna,

I loved reading about the relationships you have and how you maintain them! I agree, finding time to devote to each relationship can be challenging. I find myself sometimes regretting not spending enough time with certain people, but there is only so much time available. I think the best way to cope with this is spending time with those that you can and understanding that any time at all is still a privilege. Thanks for sharing!
